Based on the long-time experience of European organizations acting in the intergenerational field, the main challenges in achieving effective communication between generations is identified as (eseniors.eu, u.n.):
A mutual view that different generations will have no common subjects to discuss;
Predominant misconception that older adults and seniors alike are not keen in new technologies;
Young people’s busy lives;
There is a language barrier where changing words or meanings used by youngsters in everyday life are unknown to older generations;
Common conviction that there is a lack of possibilities to communicate successfully.
