Topic 3 Practical challenges when connecting different generations in education.

Some challenges derive from how intergenerational learning is embedded in our current system of learning and our policy (EPALE, 2020).

  • Social policy constraints, the external controls on individual freedom maintained by society;
  • Rigid institutional structures and conventions, such as educational buildings; in relation to physical accessibility.
  • Lack of industry knowledge and organizational capacity, such as management & strategy;
  • Staff reluctance and lack of training;
  • Lack of an intergenerational learning curriculum;
  • Limited funding and resources.
